Origin story: Your character’s history. Just in this AU, though; a link under ‘Canon’ up top is all we need for their actual canon background.
Feel free to leave some aspects of your character’s origin story vague so that you can incorporate things later on that haven’t been introduced in-game yet at – for example if it doesn’t particularly matter which supervillain your character fought that one time, you might want to just say ‘a supervillain’ rather than getting really detailed, so that when someone else apps a supervillain who’d be ideal as a past nemesis for your character you can slot that in without having to retcon anything. (With their permission, of course!)
As mentioned, there will be a two week period between apps opening for the first time and the game actually starting, to allow (and encourage) players to brainstorm with each other about potential shared background elements, so not everything you write in your backstory will need to be 100% set in stone.
Personality: Your character’s personality as it is in this AU.
Differences from canon: Outline any differences between your character as they are in canon and your character as they are in this AU – an AU character is inevitably going to have some differences in their background and personality as a result of being AUed, although obviously this will vary depending on the character and the AU concept.

Power level: If you put ‘over 9000’ we will reject you automatically. Please see the ‘Power levels’ page for more on this.
Powers: Your character’s powers can be the same as in canon, slightly altered, or significantly altered – if your character has no powers at all, you can give them some that you feel are appropriate for them, or you can leave them without. This is also where you should explain any props, accessories, animal companions or gimmicks that a character without actual powers might use in their heroing or villaining (for example Tony Stark’s armour), or any especially notable but non-supernatural skills (for example Reed Richard’s genius or Bruce Wayne’s combat skills).
Team affiliation: This can be one of the groups listed on the organizations page, or you can make up your own team. Or your character can be the sort who prefers to go it alone! No places on existing teams can be guaranteed – it’s mostly a first come, first served kind of deal – but if there’s no room for your character on your desired team, or we don’t think they’d be a good fit, we’ll work an alternative out with you.
At this point in time there are no player-created teams, because the game is new – in the gap between apps opening and the game actually starting we hope to encourage people who feel their character would be better off on a team to form their own along with others, so don't feel like the Trailblazers or Alpha Force are your only options for having your character on a team!

APPLICATION RULES:

There will be only two apps accepted per player per month.

Challenge apps are always acceptable!

Please put the word "application" in the subject, along with the character name and canon name.

Sending the app text in the body of an email or linking to an app posted on your journal are both acceptable.

Capital H's setting is open to all kinds of exciting shenanigans, superpowered or otherwise, and it's our hope that people will be able to exploit that to its fullest when it comes to plot events run and instigated by players. All we ask is that you run your ideas by us first, so that we can help it run smoothly, and potentially tie it in to other things, and so we can schedule things to make sure that there isn't too much going on at once.

This post is for any kind of potential plot thing, whether large or small scale, that will affect a range of characters other than those who are involved in planning it, OR if you want to have your character investigate or challenge a mod-controlled setting element and want to know how far they would get. (Also if you cause massive amounts of property damage somewhere, that's good to know too.)

You do NOT need to post a plot request for self-contained plot that is only going on between a few people, unless you're looking for it to have consequences that will impact the setting as a whole.

All comments are screened, to avoid spoiling any potential surprises. If you'd prefer, feel free to contact the mods via AIM or private plurk about this kind of thing instead. If we are not responding promptly and you need the answer quickly, never be afraid to try to get our attention by more immediate means!
